Hello everyone,
I recently read in the IT magazine that Thin provisioning reduce array performane (IOPS). There was not mentioned about Dell EqualLogic solution, but this 'problem' relates to EqualLogic array?
In our company, we're using EqualLogic PS6100 Series and practically we're using only volumes with thin provisioning enable.

Hi guys,
I have a doubt; I've a Equallogic PS6010 with 8 disk 3TB Dell. Can I insert also SSD Disks to increase performance?
I have one failed disk in my array of disks on one member. The status of the one disk reads "failed". I had two hot spares in the member to offload in the event of an issue. About 15 hours ago, I got an alert that the disk was offloading its contents to the spare.
I logged into the EQL GRP MGR and see the status of the one disk is "failed" and it's health is "tripped". My spare has a status of "receiving data" and it's health is "healthy". Normally I thought there was an "offloading" process, however, I am not certain.
I have a spare ready to replace for the failed disk, however, don't want to pull it out of the member if it's actively using it. My question is, is there a way I can see a status of the "receiving data"? I have been getting hourly alerts letting me know it's an issue.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Victor
Is it possible to configure a PS6510X with less than 48 disks initially, then grow the RAID 10 over time by adding drive pairs?
If possible, does the RAID 10 expansion happen automatically or is there some place in the JAVA Web Interface or Command Line to initiate the growth?
Also, I've seen some online references to PS6510XV existence, but found no matching documentation on Dell website. Does the "V" indicate that it supports 15K RPM SAS HDs? Or were the online references just in error as to the unit's existence?
Hi, after updating the Equal Logic SANs to 9.1.4 I've had issues installing the MEM 1.5.0 on some HP DL360 host servers (sorry!). Our existing R720s appear to be fine and 1.5.0 installed okay via VMware UM.
Initial installation appears to go okay but then a repeated scan throws an Error 99 associated with the VIBs just installed. Error is shown below.
esxupdate: ERROR: ValueError: Cannot merge VIBs Dell_bootbank_dell-eql-routed-psp_1.5.0-437336, Dell_bootbank_dell-eql-routed-psp_1.5.0-437336 with unequal payloads attributes: ([dell-eql-routed: 48.595 KB], [dell-eql-routed: 42.558 KB])
I am able to uninstall the VIBs, reboot host, scans proceed okay without the Error 99, and correctly identify the missing MEM 1.5.0.
Suspecting the VCSA (6.5) Update Manager I may just dump the repo, database and start again but I thought I'd ask if anyone else was having issues with MEM 1.5.0 before doing so.
Cheers...Andy
