Hi, I'd like to know the implications of having snapshots created via the group manager versus using the ASM for windows.
Basically I have a windows 2012 server that connects to a dozen or so EQL volumes. I need snapshots and replicas setup for them. What are the main advantages of doing it from ASM? I know it will "quiesce" or "quiet" the filesystem prior to the snapshot. Is there any thing else? How "usable" will the group manager snapshot of this volume be versus the ASM created snapshot?
By the way these volumes are just windows file shares that are accessed by other servers; (no databases, or anything like that).
